As of 11:59 PM tonight, I will officially be a nonsmoker for one year.

- I have saved approximately… *pulls up calculator*… $1,514.75 to $2,273.95 of my hard-earned money. And that’s just me; the wife quit a scant 14 days later so multiply our saving times two.
- I have probably improved my cardiovascular health and probably saved my children from having future health risks that can come about from exposure to cigarette smoke. I’ve actually probably saved them from starting smoking as common sense dictates that if they aren’t exposed to it, they probably won’t start.
- Over the past year there has been a considerable number of new laws and regulation passed by our state leg that further bans smokers to the southern border of Mordor. Because I don’t smoke anymore, this affects me little.
And yet, to this day, I still want one. Right now. The only real thing that stops me from going to get a pack of cigarettes from the gas station is the idea of going through the hell of trying to quit again. That’s it.
Ya and you know where that friggin money is going? RIGHT INTO THE GAS TANK.
I don’t feel like we have any more $$ than before.
And that thought STRESSES ME OUT….so much so it makes me wanna smoke.
Dammit.
Congratulations! Both to you and to your wife.
My father quit at about 40 from a 2-pack/day addiction. He lived on to be 80. It was hard for him to stop, but both Mom and I gave him the best support we could.
My encouragement to both of you in you efforts to make this change for the better.
